Have you ever been to a village with no electricity, no roads, and no mobile connectivity? Bada Bangal situated at the confluence of Ravi and Kalihani Rivers is a dreamy village situated amidst the true wilderness of Himalayas. The village still holds authenticity of ancient way of life over encroaching modernization of India. Houses here are constructed of stones, wood and clay in traditional architecture. Bada Bangal can be considered as the centre point of 3 distinct regions of Himachal Pradesh as the Shepherd routes connect Manali in Kullu district to the east, Billing in Kangra district to the south and Holi in Chamba district to the west. The nearest road head to Bada Bangal is at least 2 days trek to Holi village in Chamba, while it takes 3 days to reach Billing and 6 days to reach Manali over some of the pristine alpine meadows of Himalayas. Our trek starts from Manali through forests of Himalayas before climbing Kalihani Pass and descending down into the valley that of Bada Bangal over 6 days. We camp at Bada Bangal for an additional night and soak in the beauty of this village. From Bada Bangal we start climbing up again towards Thamsar Pass and descend into Rajgundha Valley ending the trek at Billing.
